How Faith Works

If you're like me, you attempt to live your life as per God's instruction. Mind you that
isn't always as easy as it may seem. For many of us we are taught the difference
between right and wrong at an early age. However, even with parental supervision we
didn't always get it right. None the less our parents never lost faith in us and continued
to love us despite our many blunders. The dictionary defines faith as "belief that is not
based on proof." So, essentially that equates to our parents believing that even though
our actions in the past may have been less than forthcoming, we still had promise.

Believe it or not, God has the same viewpoint. If he had not do you actually think
he would have given his greatest sacrifice for you? A parent will do anything in
their power to protect the well being of their children. According to scripture

John 3:16 ~ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life

That means God made a conscious decision to allow his only child to endure the brunt
of the most unthinkable act, in order, that you may be saved from a life of damnation.
I don't know about you, but that is faith if I ever saw it. So for those of you who lose
faith in God because life does not live up to your expectations, keep in mind, not once
did he say becoming a Christian would void your life of any obstacles.

Like your maternal parents even though you continue to cruise through life one
mistake at a time, God still trusts you will learn to have faith in his ability to heal
your brokenness. We've all been hurt, shamed, and left to feel worthless with no
hope of resurrection. I implore you to take a glimpse past your pain.

Matthew 21:22 ~ And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith

What Are You Afraid Of?

Sometimes in life we are so focused on the perception others have of us, we forget about our own identity. Your past failures are just a small component of who you truly are as an individual. The turmoil some of us deal with in regards to our past keeps us stifled. The bitterness if not acknowledged will eat away at your soul. This causes us to feel empty and withdrawn from the reality of our everyday lives.  At no point did God ever say becoming a Christian would be uncomplicated. Rely on the authenticity of Gods word. According to

Exodus 14:14 : The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent

So even when it seems God is not present, He is firmly engaged in your situation. Your happiness and well being is extremely important to him.

Proverbs 14:13 : Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of joy may be grief

This simply means there are times when you will have to laugh through the pain, in order to grasp the joy of healing. My grandmother once told me pain is your bodies way of expelling unwanted toxins. This doesn't just mean physical pain, it could also be mental or emotional pain. For instance that debilitating relationship you continue to carry, or the career you no longer enjoy, or that dreadful childhood secret that holds you hostage. Regardless of your current situation, remember as long as you are afraid to acknowledge it, it will continue to haunt you. So jump in with both feet and declare this thing be released.

1Peter 2:21 : For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps
